Chewbacca\u00a0<\/strong>(or “Chewie<\/strong>,” as he was known to his friends) was a legendary\u00a0Wookiee<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0Kashyyyk<\/a>, best known for being the co-pilot of\u00a0Han Solo’s<\/a>\u00a0ship, the\u00a0Millennium Falcon<\/em><\/a>. He was the son of\u00a0Attichitcuk<\/a>, the husband of\u00a0Mallatobuck<\/a>, and the father of\u00a0Lumpawaroo<\/a>. Chewbacca carried with him the name of an ancient Wookiee hero, the great\u00a0Bacca<\/a>, first of the great chieftains of Kashyyyk, and the creator of a\u00a0sword<\/a>\u00a0that denoted leadership among the Wookiees. This name placed Chewbacca in a noble lineage, which was further supported by his role in the\u00a0Battle of Kashyyyk<\/a>\u00a0during the\u00a0Clone Wars<\/a>\u00a0and during the\u00a0Galactic Civil War<\/a>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Born in\u00a0200 BBY<\/a>, Chewbacca became a\u00a0navigator<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0Claatuvac Guild<\/a>\u00a0and fought alongside\u00a0Jedi<\/a>\u00a0Grand Master<\/a>\u00a0Yoda<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Battle of Kashyyyk<\/a>\u00a0during the\u00a0Clone Wars<\/a>, but was condemned to\u00a0slavery<\/a>\u00a0by the\u00a0Galactic Empire<\/a>. Rescued by Han Solo, Chewbacca swore a\u00a0life-debt<\/a>\u00a0to Solo and accompanied him throughout his\u00a0smuggling<\/a>\u00a0career.
